Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has stated that the club would conduct medicals on striker Ollie Palmer ahead of their trip to Stockport County.
Wrexham are hopeful the attacker will be fit to face the Hatters at Edgeley Park on Saturday.
Palmer, 31, scored in the Red Dragons’ recent 3-0 win over Grimsby Town. He did, however, endure a knee injury.
According to the Evening Leader, Parkinson has supplied an update: “Ollie has had a bit of a problem with his knee.” We got it scanned; it’s nothing major, and we’ll simply keep an eye on him this week.”Ollie had a good offseason and has improved his fitness. He has been improving on his game, which is obviously vital, and he was rewarded with a well-taken goal over the weekend.”
Wrexham are looking for an injury boost.
Wrexham would benefit from having Palmer available against Stockport since he is a crucial player up top. If he isn’t fit enough to play, they have other good options in his position, including Paul Mullin, Steven Fletcher, and Sam Dalby.
Parkinson’s team has adjusted well to the Football League after winning the National League title. They haven’t lost since the first day of the season and are unbeaten in their past seven league games.
Palmer joined Wrexham on a three-and-a-half year agreement in January 2022 to improve their offensive options, and he has since scored 34 goals in 34 appearances, 18 of which came last season to help them win the fifth tier title. His expertise is beneficial to his team, as he has made just around 550 appearances throughout his career.
The Epsom native has formerly represented Mansfield Town, Leyton Orient, Lincoln City, Crawley Town, and AFC Wimbledon. His decision to descend into non-league and relocate to the Racecourse Ground paid him handsomely.
Wrexham will evaluate him over the next several days as they prepare to face Stockport, who have won their previous two games in a row. If he is not available, others will be given the opportunity to head the queue.
