Steph Curry insisted on looking to the future following the Golden State Warriors’ play-in loss to the Sacramento Kings.
The Warriors have been the NBA’s defining team over the last decade, but their ageing group of elite players is beginning to appear increasingly mortal. They were humiliated 118-94 in the play-in game against the Kings at Golden 1 Centre, outplayed by a younger and more dynamic club.
“We’ve been really blessed here with some amazing players, multiple championships, and Finals appearances, the highest of highs,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told reporters following the loss. “This is the flip side. This is life. Here’s how it works. “You don’t get to be on top forever.”
He wasn’t the only vanquished Warrior to argue that this all-conquering team needs a shakeup if they want to fight for the championship again next season.

Few players in basketball history have had such a significant impact on the game as Steph Curry. He, along with fellow Warriors legends Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, has won four titles with the team, but now in his mid-30s, admits that changes are required to compete at the greatest level.
“We obviously understand the league has changed and we’re getting deeper into our careers and we have to continue to evolve and make the necessary adjustments to win games,” Curry said following the victory. “But we spent a lot of time on it. I think I worked harder than I ever have to be ready for a season and perform at the level that I anticipate, and [Thompson and Green] have been there with me.”
