T’Vondre Sweat, a Texas Longhorns defensive tackle, was detained by the Austin Police Department last weekend on DWI charges after an accident on the 13000 block of IH 35 N early Sunday morning.

According to the arrest affidavit, Sweat was rear-ended by another car, resulting in the accident. Sweat was charged after police arrived on the scene and administered a sobriety test to him.

“When T’Vondre Sweat was arrested early Sunday morning in a driving while intoxicated case, it involved a car accident in which the former University of Texas star defensive tackle was rear-ended by another driver,” according to the news release. “The other driver involved in the crash has been identified as a current Longhorn football player. The Austin Police Department furnished LoneStarLive.com with a heavily redacted incident report in which redshirt freshman linebacker S’Maje Burrell is named as the driver of the other vehicle.

According to a different source from Inside Texas, Burrell, a four-star recruit and major signing for the 2023 class, is no longer with the team following the incident. When he signed with Texas, Burrell was ranked as the No. 59 player in the state and the No. 33 linebacker in the country.
