According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News (via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk), general manager Jerry Jones stated that he has not made a decision, at least not one that he is ready to disclose, amid rumors that wide receiver Michael Gallup will be cut by the Dallas Cowboys.

“We don’t have a decision that we would like to talk about right now,” Jones stated. This is one that we will discuss with him. Without him, there would be nothing we would say. Before discussing our plans for him, we should take some time to sit down and go over certain things with him

After joining the Cowboys in 2018, Gallup had his lowest statistical year to date in 2023, with 418 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Gallup failed to get over the hump and has only had 500+ receiving yards once in the last four years, following a 1,000+ receiving yard season in 2019.

In 2022, he inked a contract worth $57.5 million for five years. Should Dallas decide to retain him, his compensation is capped at $13.85 million in 2024. In 2027, he will be a free agent without restrictions.

Gallup will probably need to accept a pay reduction if he wishes to remain employed with the Cowboys.
