The Las Vegas Raiders concluded a rough season with a new head coach, offensive coordinator, and quarterback. Las Vegas boasted one of the highest-paid offenses in the NFL, but they received significantly less for their investment than projected.
The offense’s troubles and inability to move the ball or score when necessary put pressure on the entire club. This season, the Raiders relied heavily on their defense to keep them in games and win them. While the defense was successful on many occasions, it was not always the case.
The offense’s erratic performance was undoubtedly the primary reason the Silver and Black narrowly missed the playoffs this season. Despite their difficult season, the Raiders still had a slim chance of making the playoffs when they faced the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16.
While the Raiders’ offense needs to be rebuilt, particularly the offensive line, General Manager Tom Telesco and Coach Antonio Pierce must recognize how close they came to making the playoffs last season.
The Raiders hold the 13th overall choice in this year’s NFL Draft and will have numerous free-agent players eager to play for a coach like Pierce, as well as a club that is only a few pieces away from making the playoffs.
While this is a wonderful location, the Raiders should be cautious not to risk their future in the hopes of a huge return when they just need to make a few changes to an already talented group.
