In Week 13 of the 2023 NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles squared off after almost a decade of buildup.
Both teams were looking for major wins, therefore the game was crucial to their hopes of making the playoffs. DiSandro’s presence did not turn around the Eagles’ situation after his return from suspension; instead, the team lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card game, 32-9.
Although Sirianni’s emotional coaching approach has been a defining feature of his tenure, it’s hard to conclude that the Eagles’ shocking collapse was caused exclusively by the head coach’s lack of emotional self-control.
