Pittsburgh Fox News reports that former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Tim McKyer was taken into custody in Florida on multiple hit-and-run accusations.
According to Fox News, McKyer, 60, was charged with five charges of fleeing the scene of an accident after being taken into custody in Palm Beach County, Florida, on Monday. He was charged with hitting five parked cars in the parking garage of a Riviera Beach, Florida, apartment building.
According to the police report, McKyer can be seen striking the cars on security camera before walking away from the area.
During the interrogation, the arresting officer reported that McKyer smelled of alcohol and that he was “not aware of an accident that occurred.” No DUI charges were filed. The date McKyer will appear in court is March 4.
The San Francisco 49ers selected McKyer in the third round of the 1984 NFL Draft, although he was a journeyman all through the league. The seasoned defensive back participated in all 16 games during his one-season stint with the Steelers, including two starts as Pittsburgh advanced to the AFC Championship.
The three-time Super Bowl champion played for the Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons, and Miami Dolphins in addition to the 49ers, Denver Broncos, and Detroit Lions twice.
