In an attempt to strengthen his team before the window closes on Thursday night of next week, Ian Evatt

acknowledged yesterday that there had been advancements on several fronts.

The latest Bolton player to go down with an injury is Randell Williams, the wing-back who will be sidelined for two months due to a hamstring strain.

Better news, though, about Cumbrian-born Kyle Dempsey: the midfielder was well enough to be included in the team that was travelling to Brunton Park.

Evatt spoke confidently during his news conference yesterday about getting one loan deal across the line by lunchtime, enabling the player to go to Carlisle. Evatt is understood to desire at least one new defender and a striker.

But he acknowledges that it has been difficult to achieve the best deal for some of his objectives.

He stated to The Bolton News, “We try to be straight and fair.” We don’t play games when we value someone. We don’t intend to deceive anyone by entering the transfer window at the last minute and causing you some inconvenience.

We are in a great position to make it happen, in my opinion.

Off the pitch, changes to the organisational structure may have an effect on Evatt’s upcoming hiring strategies.

The owners, Football Ventures (Whites) Ltd., have given shares to Ian Graham, a former director of research at Liverpool, and his sports data advising business, Ludonautics, located in Essex.

Graham put together a ground-breaking data room at Liverpool with non-executive director Michael Edwards, which many believe was essential to the team’s success under manager Jurgen Klopp.

The alliance will help Wanderers advance their own goals, and Evatt emphasised that his own analysis team, led by the highly regarded Chris Markham, will gain from it as well.

He remarked, “Since Sharon and the board have kept us informed the entire time, I know exactly what that looks like.” The idea is that we are a forward-thinking football team. Our goal is to get better.

“This is meant to be an addition, not a replacement for anything we are already doing. It seems incredibly thrilling to me.
