McLean, a summer transfer target for Leeds United, recently agreed to a new deal with Norwich City.
Following a rejection of interest from Leeds last month, the Canaries announced on Friday that McLean has signed a contract that would keep him with the team through the summer of 2026.
According to Pink Un, Norwich rejected three consecutive inquiries from Leeds for McLean as Daniel Farke tried to get back in touch with his former player.
Farke acquired McLean from Aberdeen for Norwich in 2018 and was a midfield target for Leeds in the summer.
Sky Sports reports that Leeds’ last offer for McLean came in at around £4 million before they decided to look elsewhere in the penultimate week of the transfer window.

Leeds prioritised midfield towards the end of the previous month, and McLean was one of many players for whom they made offers.
In the end, Leeds were able to add two new players to their engine room thanks to the arrival of Ilia Gruev from Werder Bremen and Glen Kamara from Rangers.
These two extensions are said to have cost in the neighbourhood of £11 million, indicating the veracity of Leeds’ rumoured offer of £4 million for McLean.
Despite the fact that Gruev was only 23 at the time and Kamara was much older, Leeds plainly saw more value elsewhere.
With Norwich making a strong start to the season, McLean and Farke are set to compete for promotion this year.
