Pittsburgh According to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson, former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Duce Staley was back in the AFC North, meeting with the Cleveland Browns for one of their jobs.
Following the firing of longtime coach Stump Mitchell, Staley was in town for an interview on the running back coach position in Cleveland. Staley played for the Carolina Panthers the previous season, but as the team attempts to reorganise following a 2–15 campaign, he was a part of several coaching changes.
Before moving to Carolina, Staley was the running backs coach and associate head coach for the Detroit Lions (2021–2022). Prior to joining Build Detroit, he spent ten years as the Philadelphia Eagles’ associate head coach (2018–2020), running backs coach (2013–2020), and special teams quality control coach (2011–2012).
Staley was a member of the Steelers’ backfield when he won Super Bowl XL. In Pittsburgh, he performed from 2004 until 2006. He was chosen by the Philadelphia Eagles prior to his tenure in Steel City, and during his seven seasons (1997–2003), he recorded three seasons with 1,000 yards or more.
During the offseason, Staley will probably be a consideration for a few clubs, and the Steelers may want to keep an eye on him. Mike Tomlin stated that coaching changes are anticipated, therefore Pittsburgh might try to hire a former player with a lot of coaching experience from successful teams to fill one of their open positions.
