In the final seconds of Saturday’s game, the Detroit Lions appeared to have won against the Dallas Cowboys thanks to Taylor Decker’s seemingly successful two-point conversion attempt. However, the officials called back the play because Detroit had an ineligible man on the field.

The Dallas Cowboys prevailed narrowly 20-19 when the Lions’ third effort failed and their second attempt was ruined by an offside call by Micah Parsons.

With fewer than two minutes remaining, Detroit was behind 20–13, but Jared Goff and the Lions offence marched down the field, culminating in an 11-yard touchdown run by Amon Ra-St. Brown.

Referee Brad Allen indicated in a pool report with Dallas Morning News’ Calvin Watkins that Decker had not reported as an eligible receiver while backup offensive tackle Dan Skipper had, sparking more controversy after the game. NFL.com reports that Decker claimed to have “done exactly what coach told me to do, and went to the ref, said ‘Report.'”

The Cowboys’ triumph assured that they finished the season unbeaten at home and extended their winning run at AT&T Stadium to 16 games.

With 13 receptions for 227 yards and a touchdown, Cowboys wide receiver Ceedee Lamb had a career day. He also set a new franchise record for receiving yards and receptions in a single season.

Lamb’s thrilling 92-yard touchdown toss, which came after quarterback Dak Prescott dodged a sack in his own end zone and threw it far down field for Lamb to beat the defence and dash in from more than 50 yards out, sealed his record-breaking performance.
