Prior to their final regular-season game against the New York Giants, the Eagles made one roster change announcement: they activated safety Tristin McCollum from the practice squad.
Having played in the October 1 victory over Washington and the Christmas game against the Giants, McCollum has been elevated to the starting lineup for the Eagles, who will want to go 3-0 in those games. McCollum only participated in special teams play for both games, totaling 37 line-ups.
After signing a future/reserve deal with Philadelphia in January of last year, McCollum was a member of the team for the entirety of the offseason, training camp, and preseason. After signing with the practice squad following his release during the roster reduction process, he has spent the whole
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound McCollum was a four-year starter at Sam Houston State, where he finished 57 games with 229 tackles, 20 pass deflections, 12 tackles for loss, four sacks, three interceptions, and a blocked punt. He signed with the Texans in 2022 as an undrafted rookie free agent after contributing to the team’s 2021 FCS National Championship success. Throughout his first campaign, he was a member of Houston’s practice squad but never donned a uniform.
On Sunday, January 7, the Eagles (11-5) take on the New York Giants (5-11) at 4:25 PM in an attempt to close up the season with a much-needed victory.
