Isaiah Buggs, a defensive tackle, has reportedly bid goodbye to the Detroit Lions, while no formal roster move has been made as of yet.

Buggs closed a touching social media post by thanking his colleagues on the Lions and the city of Detroit.

“It’s time for me to say farewell. Detroit 96 is eliminated.

With defensive tackle Alim McNeill scheduled to return from injured reserve this week—a move head coach Dan Campbell had hinted was occurring—Buggs appears to be the odd man out.

The NFL does not post the daily transaction wire log until 4 p.m. ET, but the Lions have not disclosed any transactions.

After joining the Lions in 2022, Buggs had ups and downs with the coaching staff in 2023. He was a healthy scratch for a number of games, but during the previous four, he has managed to participate in roughly 40% of the defensive snaps. In the previous two games, Buggs did not record any official stats.

Two days after the team’s heartbreaking loss in Dallas, there were no players at the Detroit Lions’ Allen Park facilities on Monday. Dan Campbell, the head coach, still had a scheduled news conference with the media, and he utilised the latter part of it to provide an update on his team’s injuries.

There was no Lions practice on Monday since the players had the day off. As the last week of the regular season approached, Campbell continued to address inquiries over the health of a few players.

C.J. Gardner-Johnson

C.J. Gardner-Johnson Campbell expressed particular optimism for the seasoned defensive back. Gardner-Johnson has been practicing since his comeback clock began on December 21st, after suffering a torn pec in Week 2.

Sure, I’d really like to. Would want to involve C.J.,” Campbell remarked.
