Nottingham Forest have boosted their roster once further this summer, signing 13 new players.
The objective was to add quality rather than quantity, which Steve Cooper and the Forest hierarchy definitely did.
Ibrahim Sangare, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and World Cup winner Gonzalo Montiel have all joined the club, giving the Reds with much-needed depth.
Here are the club’s five greatest signings this window…
Aina, Ola
Nottingham Forest’s transfer window began with the signing of Ola Aina on a free transfer from Torino.
Aina’s signing surprised Forest supporters, who also had Serge Aurier and Neco Williams at right-back, but the 26-year-old has shown to be a wise acquisition.
Former Chelsea player Aina has started at left-back this season and hasn’t looked out of place, despite facing quality like as Bukayo Saka and Antony.
four. murillo
Despite the fact that he has yet to play for the club, the purchase of Murillo from Corinthians is a terrific piece of business and a smart investment for the future.
The 21-year-old was highly regarded in his native Brazil, with Murillo attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs prior to his transfer to the City Ground.
Despite his youth, the Brazilian is a highly confident ball-playing centre-back who will provide the Forest backline with much-needed speed.
Nicolas Dominguez, third
Nicolas Dominguez, like Murillo, is a bit of a mystery to Forest fans.
The 25-year-old box-to-box midfielder is renowned as the ‘king of the press’ in Italy, where he was the club captain of Bologna.
Dominguez’s calm temperament on the ball, as well as his persistence in getting the ball back for his team, will revolutionise the Reds’ midfield.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, No. 2
Despite not living up to his promise in recent years, Callum Hudson-Odoi is a steal for £3 million.
The new beginning at the City Ground allows him to rediscover the form that saw Bayern Munich seek £70 million for him in 2020/21.
His transfer allows him to play under Steve Cooper again after the duo worked together for England U17s, and he replaces Brennan Johnson, who moved to Tottenham for £47.5 million.
1. Sangare, Ibrahim
After Ibrahim Sangare’s arrival, there could only be one contender for the top place.
His club-record £30 million transfer to the City Ground demonstrates the owner’s desire to take the team to the next level following its survival last season.
For the past two years, Sangare, 25, has been the Reds’ first-choice target, with his exceptional ball-winning ability sought to assist fortify the midfield.
