Pittsburgh — The initial expectation for former Pitt Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett was to miss four weeks of work recovering from an ankle injury that would require surgery.
However, head coach Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers indicated they will “leave the light on” for their leading quarterback, suggesting the former Pitt star might return even sooner.
Tomlin stated, “He’ll be working in a limited capacity.” “We’ll follow his availability to see where it goes.
In Week 13’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, Pickett sustained an ankle injury. The Steelers’ three-game losing skid that followed put them out of contention for the postseason in the crowded AFC.
With three weeks remaining in the regular season, the Steelers are still alive despite their remote chances of making the playoffs. This coming weekend, they will host Cincinnati before travelling to Seattle and Baltimore to close off the year. To even stand a chance of making it into the pitch, they will need to win each of those games and will also require assistance from other teams in the AFC.
