Earlier this summer, Crystal Palace allegedly failed to entice Eden Hazard back to the Premier League.
The 32-year-old is presently a free agent after his Real Madrid contract was cancelled at the end of last season despite having a year left on it.

According to writer Dean Jones, Palace tried unsuccessfully to sign the veteran forward throughout the summer, and there are significant whispers that Hazard may shortly declare his retirement.

“It would not surprise me if Hazard retires from football now.” There have been some significant offers for him, including one from Crystal Palace to play again in the Premier League, but the incentive for him to make a comeback does not appear to be there,” Jones told GIVEMESPORT.

“It’s been a long time since he’s played; he’d have to work extremely hard to get back to top condition, which means playing top-level games could take some time.”

“Because he’s a free agent, clubs that have expressed interest haven’t ruled him out, but this is a player who is very self-assured, isn’t affected by outside noise or behaviours, and will make the decision entirely on his own terms.”

Hazard recently hinted at retiring, saying in the documentary series ‘Believe’, “Little by little, it’s time to enjoy life with my family and friends, drinking a few Jupiler beers.”

During his time at Lille, the forward was considered as one of the greatest young players in the world, and Chelsea beat Manchester United to his signature in the summer of 2012.

Hazard had a tremendously successful career at Chelsea, appearing on 352 times, scoring 110 goals and contributing 92 assists.

Before joining Real Madrid, the attacker won two Premier League crowns, the FA Cup, the EFL Cup, and two Europa League titles at Stamford Bridge.

During his tenure at the Bernabeu, Hazard won two La Liga championships, one Copa del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup, the Champions League, and the UEFA Super Cup.

However, he struggled to make an impact, only managing seven goals and 12 assists in 76 games across all competitions, and he was limited to only ten appearances last season.

Hazard, who retired from international duty after the 2022 World Cup, struggled with fitness throughout his tenure at the Bernabeu, and an agreement was struck for him to depart Real Madrid this summer in pursuit of a new challenge.
