A 6’1″ and 160-pound athlete, Simon is regarded as one of Oklahoma’s top ten players. He turned down offers from Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Kansas, and Nebraska.
Although I don’t need to know how fast he is, it’s likely that he is because this staff is always looking for athletes with that kind of speed. They’ve demonstrated that they search for specific physical measurements. They need to check a few boxes.
They have faith in their ability as coaches to develop these kids into talented football players. Kids cannot be taught how to be as quick as a track athlete, though.
Congratulations, CJ Simon. I have no doubt that he will receive a rating soon. I wouldn’t be surprised by that.

Following the team’s 5-7 result, Matt Rhule, the head coach of the Nebraska football team, hasn’t been quiet about his packed quarterback room. Additionally, it seemed as though a new name had joined the list of possible Cornhusker signal callers late on Thursday. Last month, following highly publicized back-to-back victories over Clemson and Miami, North Carolina State quarterback M.J. Morris made headlines by deciding to elect to redshirt.
Morris, who was ranked as one of Nebraska football’s top three targets prior to committing to the Wolfpack, made the decision as of yesterday to use his final three years of eligibility to access the NCAA transfer portal. Many in the national media and Cornhuskers supporters are left wondering what program he will choose next as a result of the move.
Morris, 21, spent two seasons as a player for North Carolina State, where he completed 115 of 199 pass attempts for 1,367 yards (57.8%). Over those two years, he averaged 132.7 yards per pass with 14 touchdowns and six interceptions.
In comparison to the trio of Nebraska quarterbacks this season—Heinrich Haarberg, Chubba Purdy, and Jeff Sims—the dual-threat quarterback would be regarded as an upgrade. There was never a true number one among them. This season, the three have combined for ten touchdowns, sixteen interceptions, and 29 sacks, resulting in a total loss of 179 yards.
M.J. Morris, a 6’1′′, 180-pound athlete from Carrollton High School in Georgia, signed a contract with NC State in 2021. Morris was offered by more than a dozen prestigious programs, including Nebraska football, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Miami, Michigan, and Texas A&M.
The Nebraska football team will be looking through the transfer portal for a reliable number one quarterback option for the third consecutive winter.
